Spoken word poet, author, and host of Urban Grind’s 5th Thursday Open Mic, Amena Brown and her husband DJ Opdiggy, will perform a presentation of poetry, monologue, and music based on the themes in her debut book release, Breaking Old Rhythms, which explores how experiences such as deejaying, learning to dance, having a broken heart, and practicing the rules of improv can teach us about our life’s rhythm.
Amena has performed at events across the nation such as The RightNow Conference, Creativity World Forum, Catalyst Conference, as well as touring with Gungor. Along with her spoken word poetry CD, “Live at Java Monkey,” Amena has participated in numerous professional and live recordings including two poems on Gungor’s album “A Creation Liturgy.”
Hailing from Chicago, IL, Chantae Cann is a phenomenal vocalist that is beautiful on and off the stage. She has performed as a background vocalist for many artists including Leon Timbo, Darlene McCoy, PJ Morton, Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage and India.Arie. While working with these artists she has had the amazing chance to travel the world doing what she loves and has been inspired to branch out into her own solo career. Now residing in Atlanta, GA Chantae is currently working on her official debut project that is scheduled to release SPRING of 2013.
