As described by Amazon.com, MIKE DOUGHTY is the "cult poet and musician, " whose been most recently noted for smash hits, "27 Jennifers" and "Looking at the World From the Bottom of a Well." He led the band, Soul Coughing, in the 90s, wrote an Aquaman story for DC Comics, published Slanky: A Book of Poetry, wrote one-act plays for the 24 Hour Company, recorded a Christmas duet with Rosanne Cash, and was a pseudonymous gossip columnist at the New York Press. He is acclaimed for his lyrics, once described by the New Yorker as, having "more puzzling allusions than the Cantos of Ezra Pound." He's now touring in support of his 2011 latest record, Yes And Also Yes, which was the header of his online dating profile. Stay tuned for his latest project, The Book of Drugs, written about, as he calls it, his "ugly, drug-doing years," coming out in 2012.

When listening to the layers of guitars, ukulele, accordion, bass, viola, banjo and various percussion, it's hard to imagine This Is Where We Are is SERYN's debut effort. Their beauty is displayed through chilling harmonies in what seems to be straight folk songs, but later transcend into menacing walls of sound. The term "Folk-Pop" has been thrown around, but we will leave the definitions up to you. While the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported, "Watching Seryn perform, it's hard to convince yourself that those crystalline, multi-part harmonies are not pre-recorded or some kind of sleight of ear." This is Where We Are was produced by Britton Beisenherz (Ramble Creek), and recorded over the course of a few months. The band has created their own buzz in the most traditional way, by winning people over at their shows. It's not often that a band without a record out is able to play so many great bills and sold out shows. Much less, be nominated for awards such as "Best Folk Artist" and "Song of the Year" (Dallas Observer).

For almost 20 years, every Monday night, we've been hosting a SONGWRITER'S OPEN MIC. On any given Monday, you'll get to hear some touring performing songwriters, some local touring songwriters home from the road, some local songwriters that don't tour, some up and comers working on their chops, some amateurs that will never tour, and sometimes, someone that you can look back and say I heard them when...but be guaranteed, it'll be an entertaining evening! And for $5, probably one of the greatest entertainment values in the land. For more information on playing at our Open Mic, visit the Artist Info page of our website.

Sarah Place and Aileen Bleach will both be training for a FULL marathon (26.2 miles, people!) with Team In Training in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We've seen hundreds of participants cross the finish line and do it for something bigger than themselves. We've seen them raise literally millions of dollars for cancer research. Another thing we've seen is how these funds are unquestionably responsible for better treatments, allowing patients to LIVE, and live a better quality life.

They've committed to raising over $6,500 during our months of training and want to make the experience FUN! Please join us for this special event with special thanks to Bob Place of The Laughing Skull.

ATL COLLECTIVE was established to foster the Atlanta music scene, encourage collaborations and cross-pollination and to create happenings that will inspire and entertain. In the process, we're restoring the faith in the album as art form and educating the people about some of the finest music out there. For each event, we pick a classic album and handpick some of the finest in local (and sometimes national) talent. We divvy up the songs and collectively cover the album in sequence. Often there's a food or beverage hook. Tonight, we are offering Rain Dog Hot Dogs - a classic NY style all beef (like Nathan's) on a split roll with spicy mustard, kraut, and diced onion on the side. Two for $5.00, sold as a basket with fries for $6.50.

Line-Up Includes:
DANNY BREWER, aka Besides Daniel, gives audiences the best of folk and pop.
Rock-blues artist, DANIEL DEWITT, is the former bass player and singer of Winston Audio.
R&B artist, CHANTAE CANN, was the background vocalist for India.Arie and Leon Timbo.
TRAE VEDDER (of Death On Two Wheels) has performed at SXSW, Bamboozle, & Forecastle.
PACKWAY HANDLE BAND was Flagpole Music's winner for Athen's Best Bluegrass-Folk Band.

Featured Act: KODAC HARRISON

The blues inspired and Southern soulful artist, KODAC HARRISON, is best known for his work as a spoken word artist. His phenomenal work has taken him around the globe with a wide range of performers like Patti Smith, Marianne Faithful, John Mayer, The Indigo Girls, Alejandro Escovedo, and Ellis Paul. Throughout his career, he's also written songs for films like Dead Aim and Mace. Kodac has performed for former presidents, Bill Clinton at the Andrew Young Tribute, and Jimmy Carter at the Jimmy Carter Center. According to his bio, Kodac was named, "Best Spoken Word Artist" by Creative Loafing in 2002 for the critic's choice and in 2003, 2004, 2010, & 2011.

Nashville’s budding duo, SWEET ALIZABETH, is the newest collaboration between Bethany Dick-Olds and Liz Langford. They each bring their talents on the fiddle and violin and harmonize on beautiful bluegrass and traditional folk melodies. As individuals, the two have performed with Kaney West, Sara Evans, and Pam Tillis, but now joining forces, they’re unstoppable. The haunting tunes have carried them to success like being featured on Good Day Atlanta. If you’re fans of Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek, Ricky Skaggs, and Joni Mitchell, then you will love Sweet AlizAbeth’s music.

As a solo artist, MATTHEW KAHLER released My Own Medicine in 1994 and This Here That There in 1996, all the while building a strong local following for his James Taylor-esque style. In 1995, Kahler and Shawn Mullins recorded their infamous dueling live show and issued Jeff's Last Dance on Mullins' SMG Records. The double-CD features the two energetic artists doing what they do best -- entertaining an audience at Eddie's Attic. Mullins produced and played all over Out of the Blue in 2000 on SMG. The album features musical inspirations drawn from James Taylor and Al Greenwith several stops in between. Kahler also co-wrote a couple of songs on Mullins' Beneath the Velvet Sun, including, "Everwhere I Go" and "Up All Night."

Once half of the acclaimed acoustic duo, The Brilliant Inventions, ELIOT BRONSON has a bundle of new material, drawing more on country, folk, and roots rock influences than The Brilliant Inventions ever did; and a top tier band - featuring ex-members of Sugarland and the BoDeans, Eliot Bronson seems poised to eclipse the success of his earlier efforts.  Paste Magazine stated, "While playing under his own name may not have been the road Bronson originally envisioned for himself, he seems to be that much better because of it." And Georgia Music Magazine decreed, "Blackbirds proves Bronson a formidable talent in his own right, ready for the big time all by his damn self!"

Over the years, THE FREDDY JONES BAND has received rave reviews. Capricorn Records signed the group after their self-titled and self-released debut sold more than 10,000 copies in 1992. The band steadily built an audience with 1993's Waiting for the Night, 1995's North Ave. Wake Up, and 1997's Lucid. Lucid reached No. 19 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. Rolling Stone stated, the group is a "fine line between schizophrenic jam band and sensibly minded pop rock." All Music Guide said, the Freddy Jones Band's "sound, at times, is reminiscent of the Allman Brothers." They are currently touring in support of their latest release, Time Well Wasted, the first album released since their 1999 record, Mile High Live. Stay tuned because they're currently back in the studio working on an upcoming record and in March of 2012, The Freddy Jones Band will join the rest of the bands on The Rock Boat Music Festival.

SANDRA MCCRACKEN & DEREK WEBB first collaborated together for 2008's Ampersand EP, and the combination of their two distinct styles brought not only enthusiastic reviews but also a highly anticipated follow-up, the TN EP, released in June of 2011. The EP showcases the songwriters' abilities to blend their styles into something completely different and new. With five original songs and two covers, including Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" and Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound Of Silence," the TN EP shows off the duo's timeless songwriting, alluring vocals, and Derek Webb's slick production. It bounces from folk and pop to gospel and soul with hooks and lyrics to connect with any listener. Derek's experimental production, along with the organic nature of Sandra's acoustic songwriting and mellifluous vocals combine to create songs that can range anywhere from heartfelt and homegrown to soaring and transcendent.

Nashville's, DREW and ELLIE HOLCOMB, are the husband and wife rock team who are members of the band, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors. Before the band came together, Drew was perfecting his songwriting skills with influence from Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and Wilco. When audiences hear Holcomb’s songs, there is an emotional attachment and reaction, proven by the epic, “Live Forever,” which was recently used during an episode of NBC’s Parenthood and sparked a downloading frenzy online. Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors are touring in support of their newest release, Chasing Someday
